I just turned 19, my life insurance policy just started and I don’t want it. I know that you can cancel it by stop paying for it, but what if it’s connected to my bank account?

Yes, you can cancel the policy. Call your bank and tell them to stop deductions of the premiums.
If you purchased the policy from a local agent, call him/her and tell them you want to cancel.
If the policy was purchased over the internet, call the company and tell them you want to cancel. They will instruct you as to what to do.
If the policy is still in the “free look” period, you can get your initial premium back from the company. But you must return the policy to the company, and sign a statement that you want it canceled in order to get your money back.
What is the reason you bought the policy? If you bought it for a specific need, that need still exists. So, there must be an undisclosed reason you want to cancel. Is another agent trying to replace it?
Do this please: Call your LOCAL agent and have him/her do a Financial Need Analysis (FNA), or other Total Need Program, to help you determine how much and what type of insurance you need to reach your personal short and long-term goals.
You may not need a lot of life insurance at this time, but the FNA will help you determine that.
If a local agent wrote your current policy, and did not do an FNA for you, he/she did you a disservice.
If another agent is replacing your current policy, he must show the reason on required Replacement/ Comparison forms. If the agent is replacing without doing an FNA, he/she is doing you a disservice.
The FNA will also help you determine if you need Disability Income Protection. Healthy young people get injured, too. It will also help you determine if you need to set aside some money in an Individual Retirement Account (IRA).
All the money you will have at retirement time is what you begin sending on ahead from now. If you wait only one year to start saving for retirement, it could cost you tens of thousands of dollars in lost investment earnings.

You need to send a certified, return receipt letter to the agent/company, stating that you wish to cancel your policy.
You can only do that, though, if YOU are the policyholder.
You should also close out that account, and open a new one at a different bank, to keep those premiums from being deducted.

Do you mean they take the payments directly from your bank account?
No matter how you’re paying for it, you would cancel the policy by calling your insurance agent and telling him you no longer wish to be insured. Shouldn’t be that difficult. You may need to sign some kind of document before the policy can be officially canceled, but the first step is to contact your agent or whoever/wherever it is you bought the policy from.

You can cancel. Call your agent or company.
Why did you take the policy in the first place? Just wondering. Some companies give a discount on other products for taking a life insurance policy. It’s that’s the case, then ask about how much the discount is that you gained before you cancel.
